Instagram Launches Instagram Lite App for Low end Android Smartphones

Facebook launched the Facebook lite app for Android users back in 2015. The Facebook lite is the lighter version of the Facebook app for Android and it was designed mainly for low-end smartphones. Due to the success of the Facebook lite App with over 200 million users as at 2017, Facebook decided to launch the messenger lite App. 

Now, Facebook-owned company Instagram has just launched its Instagram Lite App. The Instagram Lite app is just 573kb compared to the 32MB size of the regular Instagram App for Android. It consumes less space, less RAM, it's faster and also smoother than the regular Instagram App. 

Even with its small size, the Instagram Lite app still includes some of the features you will find on the regular app such as Stories, Explore tab and more. The company is also planning to add messages and share videos soon. 

Below are the main features of Instagram Lite 

>> Post photos you want to keep on your profile grid and edit them with filters.
>> Share multiple photos to your story. Bring them to life with text. They disappear after 24 hours and won’t appear on your profile grid or in the feed.
>> Watch stories from the people you follow in a bar at the top of your feed.
>> Discover stories, photos, and videos you might like and follow new accounts on the Explore tab. 

>> Ability to send messages to friends and share videos as well (coming soon). 

The app is currently being tested in Mexico but it will be rolled out to all countries soon.
